Legacy & Planned Giving
Leave a Lasting Legacy to the Blind and Visually Impaired Community!
Leaving a gift to Lighthouse Vision Loss Education Center in your will or by beneficiary designation is a great way to make a difference that lasts more than a lifetime. There are several ways to thoughtfully include Lighthouse in your estate planning. When you join the Legacy Society, you become a beacon of hope to the children, teens, adults and seniors in need of vision rehabilitation.
How You Benefit
- You decide how much to give — no gift is too small
- Your gift costs you nothing now
- You retain control of your assets during your lifetime
- You can modify the gift if your circumstances change
- You may choose to keep your gift anonymous
- You can leave a gift in honor or memory of someone
Wills and Bequests
Some people believe that giving to charitable institutions through their will is only for the extremely wealthy. However, for every large, well-publicized charitable bequest, there are countless smaller ones arranged by people of all means, and in all walks of life. Giving through your will can be an easy way to continue to support individuals with vision loss, after your passing.
This gift pays you income. This is a life income gift that not only supports the mission of Lighthouse, but also pays you a guaranteed fixed income for life. These gifts are generally very simple to set up and do not require a substantial amount of investment. Upon your passing, the remainder continues to support our mission.
Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT)
This gift pays you income. A Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) is a life income gift that pays income to you and/or other beneficiaries for a term of years or until your passing. When the trust terminates, Lighthouse receives the remainder of the trust.
Charitable Lead Trust (CLT)
A Charitable Lead Trust (CLT) is a gift that makes annual contributions to Lighthouse for a term of years. The property then passes to your heirs with substantial tax savings. You can safeguard your estate for your heirs while supporting Lighthouse.
Lighthouse can be named as the owner and/or beneficiary of an existing or new life insurance policy.
Under certain circumstances, Lighthouse can accept real estate property as a donation.
To notify us of your planned Legacy Gift or if you have already included Lighthouse in your estate plans or as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, trust, or will, please let us know by emailing Nicole Mobley.
