Lighthouse is grateful to the individuals, families, foundations, businesses and organizations that make generous charitable gifts to support our mission. Your continued support provides vital daily living skills to some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community, and helps provide programs and services at NO COST to blind and visually impaired individuals residing in our communities.
We are proud to state that 84% percent of our budget goes directly to fund our programs and services. Learn more about our monthly giving Sustainers Club, which is most vital to providing rehabilitation services to foster independence, productivity and improved quality of life to those living with vision loss. You can make a difference in the life of a blind or visually impaired person in your community.

Other Ways to Support Lighthouse
The Louis & Gloria Flanzer Matching Gift Program
The Louis and Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust, launched its Contribution Matching Program in January 2020. The purpose of the Flanzer Contribution Matching Program is to inspire locals across the Suncoast to make a difference in their communities through meaningful gifts to key nonprofit organizations that result in greater opportunities for those who need assistance the most. The average donation of the 2020 program was $240; the Flanzer Trust recently extended the matching program through 2021. Contributions between $5 and $500 will be matched 1:1. Go to Flanzer Trust, click “Donate Now” and choose Lighthouse Vision Loss Education Center as the recipient.
Donor Advised Fund
A Donor Advised Fund, or DAF, is a kind of charitable account in which a donor makes a tax-deductible gift to the account and is able to donate money to specific organizations at a later date. While donors receive tax benefits at the time they give to a donor advised fund, charitable organizations don’t receive any benefits until a grant is made. If you have a DAF, you can make a difference today! Contact your DAF manager to recommend Lighthouse for a grant.
Gift of Stock, Bonds or Mutual funds
When you donate appreciated stocks, bonds or mutual funds, you receive an income tax deduction for the market value of the asset on the date of transfer. You also avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciation. For specific instructions regarding the transfer of stock, bonds or mutual funds call the Development Office at 1-941-359-1404 ext. 702
If you are 70 ½ or older, you can contribute up to $100,000 to Lighthouse from your IRA. The gift must be transferred directly to Lighthouse from your IRA and must be received by December 31 to qualify for tax benefits. To make a tax-free gift from your IRA, contact your account manager or financial professional.
Many employers will match, double or even triple employee donations. You can make an even greater impact with your gift by taking advantage of your company’s matching gift benefit. Each company has its own guidelines for employees, spouses and retirees but most procedures are simple. Please contact your Human Resources Department to complete the forms.
Memorial & Honorarium Gifts
Give a memorial gift or one honoring a special friend, for birthdays, anniversaries, or just to show your gratitude, and help those in our community who are blind or visually impaired. When we receive your gift, we will send a thoughtful letter to the individual being honored or the family of the deceased acknowledging you and your gift.

Your generous gifts are greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!
